Description
Day 1: at 7:30am Transfer from the hotel to Ceasa Port, located approximately 15 km from the center of Manaus. From this place at 8 am, we will use a speedboat (boat) to cross the meeting of the waters where a brief explanation will be given of this famous natural phenomenon which is the meeting of two rivers (Rio Negro and Solimões). After the explanation, we will continue to the village of Careiro from where at 8:30 am, we will continue by land (Car, or Van = Combi) for approx. 1.20h to the Paraná do Mamori river. From there, around 9:45am, we will continue by speedboat for approximately 2:20 hours, arriving at the lodge about 12pm.
Lunch is served at 12:30 pm and the activity to be done on the first day will be a reconnaissance tour of the region aboard a motorized canoe to observe the region and learn a little about it. This tour will start at 3pm. We will go out in a canoe to observe dolphin, birds and different areas of the region with the possibility of always finding something at the next bend of the river or in the next forest. We return to the lodge its after watching a wonderful sunset from the middle of the river or lake, normally around 6:30 pm. At 7pm dinner will be served, ending the first day of immersion in the forest of the Juma River region.
Day 2: At 5:15 am the day will start with a canoe trip to see and hear the awakening of nature, where the silence is broken by the singing of birds and the noise of other animals such as monkeys, with the possibility of observing more dolphins and ending this short tour with a privileged view of the sunrise from the middle of the river. The group will then return to the lodge and breakfast will be served at 6:45 am.
From 7:45 am to 11:15 am the group will do the walk (trail) through the forest with explanations of medicinal plants, basic notions of survival in the forest with the possibility of seeing some animals such as monkeys, spiders and others animals found in the region, returning after completing this activity.Lunch will be at 12:30 pm and the afternoon activity will begin at 2:45 pm. They will go out to for piranhas fishing, with the possibility of catching other species of fish depending on the water level, a determining factor in the tours and life in general in the Amazon rainforest. At 6pm they will return to the lodge and at 7pm dinner will be served. After dinner, they will go out in a canoe to spot alligators, where the guide will show from the canoe how to find the alligators, if possible, according to safety conditions, will try to catch a small specimen to better observe it and explain about this animal, then returning it to the nature, then finishing this day’s activities.
Day 3: After breakfast at 7:30am, there will be a canoeing trip exploring the igapós (flooded forest) and streams in the region. Canoeing is an activity that provides a great chance to see and learn about the flora and fauna of this fantastic area of ​​the Amazon rainforest. Canoeing its done in a wooden canoes, as it makes it easier to access difficult areas between the trees without making noise, making it possible to find some birds and groups of monkeys as in certain areas depending on the period and water level, they will paddle below the treetops and they will return to the lodge around 11 am.
In the afternoon of 2:30 pm the group will go to camp in the forest for one night and will sleep in hammocks with mosquito nets, and in the forest, together with the guide, they will cook their dinner, and for this, they will have to make a fire and use it in order to prevent it from spreading throughout the jungle causing major problems. After dinner, or before depending on each group, a night trekking will be done, and for this activity, it is essential and mandatory to have and wear boots or gaiters for safety reasons. During the night trekking, you may encounter (observe) animals such as rodents, deer or even some snakes, which is the main reason for having appropriate boots or equipment for night hiking in the forest.
Day 4: Breakfast will be in the forest and depending on the time of year, the group may go on a hike or canoe trip, which starts early and may be before breakfast. Remembering that the place where you will camp will always be close to a place with water (igarapé), so we will have a canoe nearby, making it possible to canoe early in the morning because the earlier you have the greater chance of observing animals as it is the time when they are moving around looking for food. The group will return to the lodge getting there around 11am.
At 11:45am lunch will be served and at 12:45pm the journey back to Manaus will begin with expected arrival in the city at around 4:30pm at the hotel, thus ending our 4-day of a fantastic adventure jungle experience the Juma reserve at Brutos Lodge.
