Amazon Canoe 4D/3N

 

This tour is done from March to the Beginning of September.

It is a mixture of jungle trekking and a 2-day-caoeing trip through the flooded forest and creeks. It explores untouched áreas that can only be reached by canoe during the rainy season when the water is high. It’s a great chance to see monkeys and birds. A two-night camping experience in the fores tis also included.

NOTE:
This tour is recommended for people who would like to spend one night at the lodge and two nights camping out in the forest. Comfort is minimum as the tour is done weather it rains or not. Everyone must be ready to endure intense heat and humidity. They must be able to take along personal belongings such as boots, long pants, raincoat and flaslight. Food and water are taken from the lodge and is carried by everyone during the trekking. All meals are prepared by the group while away from the lodge. Everyone sleeps in a hammock under a mosquito net. This is also carried individually in their backpacks.

Activities;
Piranha fishing, Jungle trekking, Dolphin and Bird watching, sunrise and sunset watyching,  Cayman (Alligator) spotting at night, a two-day Canoeing (Paddling), visiting the local people and two-night camping experience.

Trip Itinerary

Day one; The tour starts at 8am when clients are picked up at their hotel and taken to the Ceasa port, located 15km from Manaus on the bank of the Rio Negro. From there they are taken by speedboat to the meeting of the waters-the point where the Rio Negro and the Solimoes meet. They are then taken to the Careiro port located on the opposite side. From Careiro a van takes them on a 50-minutes ride to the Paraná do Mamori river. They then get into another boat which takes them to the lodge after a 30-minutes ride. Lunch is served at 12:30pm. At 2:30pm, the group leaves in a canoe to watch, dolphins and to fish for piranhas. Sunset is watched from the middle of the Juma Lake at about 6pm. At 7pm dinner is served. At about 8:30pm, the group leaves in a canoe to do cayman spotting. The high light of the ride is when the guide grabs a cayman by the neck. A small one of course and pulls it into the boat. After some photos and a brief lecture by the guide, the animal is returned to its habitat.

Day two: At 5:30am the group leaves to watch the sunrise and to get a close up view of the forest waking up to a new day and also for bird watching. At 7am breakfast is served and then at 8am, a three-hour jungle walk starts. Valuable information about the jungle is passed on to the group. Much is learned about medicinal plants, spiders and trees. There is always a possibility of seeing monkeys. In the afternoon at 2:40pm the group leaves to visit a local family to see and learn about their simple and fantastic way of living in the forest getting back to the lodge at about 6pm.

Day Three: After breakfast at 8am, the group leaves to begins the Amazon canoe tour. After paddling for about 3 hours, they stop to build base camp and to prepare lunch. After lunch, the group leaves to explore the forest. Back at the camp dinner is prepared and served. After that everyone turns in.

Day Four: After breakfast the second part of the adventure begins, the Canoeing. The paddling through the forest, bird watching, monkey and other animals may be seen. The tour ends at about 11:30am when the group gets back to the lodge. After lunch some time is taken to relax. At 1:30pm, the journey back to Manaus begins. Arrival time is about 4:30pm. The tour ends when everyone is taken back to their hotel.
